The Construction Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Ferndale, MI. This position is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for residential and commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, and equipment. Day‑to‑day tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity take‑offs, analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotes, and developing accurate budgets and bid proposals. The role also involves collaborating closely with project managers, designers, and field teams to refine estimates, track costs, and support value engineering.
The estimator will maintain up‑to‑date cost databases, participate in pre‑construction meetings, and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders to support informed project decisions.
- Strong skills in Construction Estimating, including developing detailed cost breakdowns and competitive bids.
- Proficiency in Quantity Take-offs and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
- Experience with Construction Software (Buildertrend plus)
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with project teams, vendors, and clients.
- Familiarity with construction estimating software and MS Excel or similar tools.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous experience as a Construction Estimator or in a related construction role is preferred.
