Maintenance Technician
This role supports a refrigerated food and beverage production facility by providing hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance, with a strong emphasis on electrical troubleshooting.
You will diagnose and repair production equipment working closely with remote controls engineers while serving as the first line of on-site troubleshooting.
Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting on production equipment, including low-voltage systems (110V / 24V), sensors, proximity switches, and three-phase motors.
Use a voltmeter to safely test, diagnose, and verify electrical circuits and components, identifying the root cause of equipment issues.
Connect a laptop to PLCs to perform basic PLC troubleshooting and locate faulty sensors using Siemens, Rockwell, or comparable systems.
Serve as the first point of on-site issue identification before involving remote controls engineers, clearly communicating findings and supporting further diagnostics.
Conduct mechanical troubleshooting and repair on conveyors, including motors, valves, hoses, and related components.
Maintain and repair industrial equipment such as filling machines and mixers that operate on pneumatics and hydraulics, including work on valves and hoses as needed.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks on machines and equipment to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
Interpret and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical diagrams to support accurate repairs and installations.
Carry out welding and fabrication tasks as needed to support machine repair and maintenance activities.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in a clear and accurate manner.
Collaborate with other maintenance team members across shifts to ensure consistent equipment performance and smooth handoffs.
Follow all food safety, quality, and plant safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and adherence to sanitation requirements.
This is a permanent position based out of Ferndale, MI.
The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $74880.00/yr.
This is a food and beverage environment, majority of the salsa & hummus areas are cold due to needing to be in a refrigerator. Need to be comfortable also fully suiting up in appropriate PPE (lab coat, hair net, beard net, etc) when in the food areas. 2nd Shift Opening: 2:15pm - 11:30pm/12am Monday - Friday (9 hour days), 4-8 hours on Saturday's for PM's (2nd shift can come in on 1st shift/ shift time may be on 1st shift) 45 - 50 hours a week Training on 1st shift for the first 1-3 months 14 total people in the Maintenance department They run 3x total on 2nd shift
This is a fully onsite position in Ferndale, MI.
