What to Expect
As a Fixed Equipment Engineer II, you will be the go-to expert ensuring critical assets operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. You'll combine hands-on problem-solving with strategic thinking to improve equipment performance and support long-term reliability goals. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex systems, collaborate across disciplines, and make a tangible impact on the refinery's operational success.
What You'll Do
* Deliver technical expertise to support and enhance the reliability of fixed equipment at the refinery.
* Lead the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
* Assess equipment criticality and develop asset strategies to improve reliability and operational performance.
* Monitor key reliability indicators, analyze data, and implement solutions to reduce downtime and increase availability.
* Troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform root cause analyses to drive continuous improvement.
* Communicate reliability concerns and share solutions across teams to support improvement initiatives.
* Provide cost estimates and oversee reliability projects from conception through commissioning.
* Ensure compliance with management of change processes and support turnaround activities when needed.
* Respond to unexpected emergencies and after-hour callouts as required.
* Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures while maintaining knowledge of industry best practices.
What You'll Bring - Required
* Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
* Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline
* 3 or more years of professional engineering experience in Energy or a similar industry
* Valid Driver's License
* Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
* Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following:
* Travel up to 5%
* Operate company vehicle on site premises and / or public roads up to 5%
* Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional duties
* Transport articles up to 50 pounds
* Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
* Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions
* Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
* Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
What Makes You Stand Out - Preferred
* 5 or more years of experience working as a Reliability or Discipline Engineer in refining or petrochemical industry
* Ability to apply and understand pertinent industry Codes and Standards, especially NBIC, ASME and API Codes and Standards (e.g. ASME B31.3, 16.5, 31.1, API 579)
* Certifications in API 510, 570, or 653
* Ability to learn and work effectively with standard engineering software (E2G Plant Manager/Sage Plus, PV Elite, Ceasar, JADE, etc)
* Experience with SAP and Reliability Software (i.e. APM, PCMS)
* Experience developing Cause Maps and leading Root Cause Analysis teams
Compensation Range
This position has a base salary range of $127,800 - $156,200.

The Ferndale Refinery is located on Puget Sound in Ferndale, Washington, approximately 20 miles south of the U.S.
-Canada border. Facilities include crude distillation, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation and hydrodesulfurization units. It processes a variety crude oils, including Alaskan North Slope, Canadian and other foreign and U.S. shale crudes, primarily delivered via marine vessel and pipeline. Within the refinery is a rail car crude oil receiving facility with a capacity of 30,000 BPD. This offloading facility, owned by Phillips 66 Partners, makes the receipt of additional crude by rail car possible.
The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include residual fuel oil, which is supplied to the northwest marine bunker fuel market. Most refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline and barge to major markets in the northwestern United States.
