Our quality products have a heritage dating back to the early 1800’s at the Hempler’s family sausage kitchen in Borken, Germany. Hans Hempler worked in the family sausage business in Germany as a youngster. He served as an apprentice sausage maker and learned first-hand the family’s old secret recipes becoming a master sausage maker before moving to the United States. Hans came to the United States in 1928 and, in those early years, worked hard and saved his money.

SCHEDULE: Work schedule may include rotating shifts or temporary assignments to other shifts based on business and operational needs.

WAGE: $80,000-$85,000 , subject to all required taxes and with holdings.

Position Summary: The Smoke House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the Smoke House department, ensuring safe , efficient, and consistent production of high-quality products. This role leads, develops, and holds production employees accountable while promoting a positive, team-oriented culture focused on employee engagement, retention, and development. The Supervisor is expected to be a hands-on leader who works collaboratively across departments, supports company goals, and ensures compliance with established safety, food safety, quality, and operational standards.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support employee onboarding, training, cross-training, engagement, retention, and development, and ensure required training records are maintained.
  • Oversee daily Smoke House operations, including smoking, cooking, cooling, product transfers, and other assigned production activities.
  • Coordinate labor utilization, and production schedules to meet production, quality, safety, and efficiency goals.
  • Monitor production processes and equipment performance to ensure established specifications,SOPs, work instructions, and operational standards are followed.
  • Identify and escalation equipment or maintenance concerns to minimize downtime and production disruptions.
  • Ensureaccurateandtimelyuse of ERP and other required production systems, documentation, and records.
  • Monitor adherence to applicable food safety, sanitation, quality, GMP, HACCP, and regulatory requirements within assigned areas.
  • Monitor critical control points and ensure required production, food safety, and quality records areaccurateand complete.
  • Conduct routine operational inspections and address or escape food safety, quality, sanitation, or compliance concerns as appropriate.
  • Follows all company safety policies, procedures, and work practices;identifies and reports safety concerns and supports a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrates company values through daily actions, decisions, and communication while leading, developing, and holding team members accountable to performance expectations, company policies, safety requirements, and company values.
  • Communicates effectively and works collaboratively across departments to support operational needs and company goals.
  • Identifies and supports opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, processes, and overall business performance
  • Understands and follows applicable company policies, procedures, work instructions, and legal or regulatory requirements related to the position.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, consistent with the general scope and level of the position.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices (training provided)

Licenses/

Certifications:

  • HACCP certification preferred

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Preferred 3-4 years’ experience in food processing or manufacturing.
