Quality Assurance Technician 2nd Shift - Onsite

LOCATION: 5470 Nielson Ave, Ferndale, WA

SCHEDULE: 2:00PM – 10:30PM

WAGE: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour DOE, plus $1.00 per hour for shift differential, subject to all required taxes and with holdings.

Hans Hempler worked in the family sausage business in Germany as a youngster. He served as an apprentice sausage maker and learned first‑hand the family’s old secret recipes becoming a master sausage maker before moving to the United States. Hans came to the United States in 1928 and, in those early years, worked hard and saved his money.

The Opportunity

The Hempler team has openings for the critical position of Quality Assurance Technician on 2nd shift. Assist the company’s operations on a technical level to assure the safety and the quality of all finished products starting from receiving raw materials, preparation for shipping. This is to be accomplished by enforcing and assuring the company’s GMP, SOP, SSOP policies and providing training to employees.

What

You’ll Do Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight
  • Prepare, maintain, and verify quality control weight and fill charts
  • Collect and test raw material, in‑process, and finished product samples
  • Perform laboratory analyses per written specifications and QA procedures
  • Calibrate and standardize testing equipment (pH, AW meters, moisture balance, scales)
  • Maintain testing logs, calibration records, and retain samples
  • Conduct labeling, coding, and packaging inspections
Compliance & Process Control
  • Enforce GMP, HACCP, sanitation, allergen, and food safety programs
  • Identify and elevate out‑of‑tolerance conditions to Production and QA leadership
  • Exercise authority to stop, hold, divert, or retain products when quality standards are not met
  • Support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor employee hygiene and sanitation practices
  • Provide guidance and training on QA procedures
  • Interact with customers as needed in coordination with the Quality Control Manager
  • Participate in sanitation projects, audits, mandatory training, and overtime as required
What We’re Looking For Required /

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School or equivalent preferred.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of progressive responsibility in a quality control role preferably with a food manufacturer.
  • Organized, efficient and detail oriented.
  • Able to establish priorities, yet be flexible as required
  • Understands and exercises the concept of confidentiality
  • Computer literate and proficient in the use of software programs such as MS Office, Excel and Ross computerized management systems.
  • Show enthusiasm, initiative and pride in work
  • Problem Solving and Decision‑Making skills
  • Experience working in a customer‑focused and fast‑paced professional environment.
  • Hands‑on expertise developing Quality Systems.
  • Must be able to lift 60lbs occasionally.
  • Experience performing Quality Assurance activities for the manufacturing of food and nutritional products in a GMP environment.
  • Strong expertise involving GMP and HACCP compliance activities.
  • Strong managerial experiences.
  • Great personality and excellent communication skills.
  • HACCP Certification
