Overview
Position:
Secondary Health Teacher (Fernley High) for 2025/26 school year at Lyon County School District. Salary range: $48,955-$87,866 annually, employer-paid retirement, dependent upon previous experience. Terms of Employment: 9 months or 185/189 days. FLSA Status:
Exempt. This is a salaried position assigned to the Licensed Employee Salary Schedule.
- Administer district curriculum aligned with Nevada State Standards and LCSD-approved curriculum.
- Provide a respectful learning environment and support school and district programs and goals.
- Create and maintain a positive, orderly, academically focused classroom.
- Develop and implement effective lessons using the LCSD lesson plan template.
- Analyze student progress and provide individualized instruction and feedback.
- Ensure compliance with IEPs and other related mandates.
- Maintain classroom management and discipline to ensure safety.
- Contribute to the School Performance Plan (SPP) process.
- Comply with assessment regulations and guidelines.
- Facilitate an effective advisory program as outlined by administration/district.
- Interact professionally with administration, staff, parents, and community; manage stress appropriately.
- Integrate technology into instructional programs, curriculum, and lessons.
- Maintain accurate records in student information systems (e.g., Infinite Campus).
- Participate in other duties as assigned; maintain punctuality and attendance as essential functions.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to teach in a secondary classroom.
- Collaborate with students, parents, peers, administration, and community members.
- Guide learning toward achievement of curriculum and student goals.
- Establish and communicate clear expectations for lessons, units, and projects.
- Use varied instructional techniques to meet diverse student needs.
- Participate as a collaborative member of the faculty and staff.
- Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
- Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and in-service.
- Communicate professionally in written, oral, and non-verbal forms.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the site administrator/supervisor.
