Faculty, Contributing - Mental Health Counseling General Summary

Responsibilities & Expectations- All new Faculty Members receive specific training from Walden University in online teaching techniques, learning platform use, program policies, cultural integration, academic integrity assessment, and thesis/dissertation research supervision.
- Faculty Members are assigned a course using the Blackboard platform, responsible for student interaction, discussion boards open 24/7, timely postings, and providing feedback and grades.
- Faculty Members must be in the classroom at least four days per week and respond to student questions within 48 hours.
- Faculty Members may attend residencies/Pre‑practica and facilitate school‑wide discussions; some travel may be required (minimum once per quarter).
- Faculty Members may complete training in dissertation chairing and service and are eligible to serve on doctoral dissertations.
- Adequate computer with keyboard, pointing device, monitor, reliable Internet access and backup; use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and ZIP software.
- Appropriately credentialed with an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country’s ministry of education. Must be licensed or license‑eligible as a mental health professional in the state of residence and maintain licence and certifications.
- Earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP‑accredited program at an accredited institution.
- Current state licensure as a mental health professional.
- Minimum of three years of experience teaching and mentoring master’s and/or doctoral level students, including directing thesis/dissertation research.
- Experience supervising student field training. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social change, and service to non‑traditional students.
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 – $4,080 per quarter or semester.
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 – $2,200 per quarter.
- Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment; requires use of a personal computer for 6‑8 hours daily.
