A fast-growing, mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to help bring structure, clarity, and strategic insight to a rapidly expanding organization.

This is a confidential search for an organization scaling its programs and operations across multiple states. As growth has accelerated, leadership is looking for a finance leader who can help bring greater discipline to forecasting, reporting, and financial planning while strengthening the accounting foundation that supports it.

This role will report directly to the CFO and will play a key role in helping leadership translate financial data into better operational and strategic decisions.

While the role is fully remote, we are particularly interested in candidates based in strong finance markets in the Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones

. The organization has experienced significant growth, and the next phase requires building stronger financial systems, improving reporting speed and accuracy, and creating forecasting tools that allow leadership to make informed decisions as the organization scales.

The Director will help organize and strengthen financial infrastructure while also partnering closely with the CFO on budgeting, planning, and long‑term strategy.

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range financial planning
• Improve financial reporting systems and dashboards to support leadership decisions
• Oversee accounting processes, compliance, and audit readiness
• Ensure proper tracking and management of restricted and grant funding
• Partner with leadership to improve financial visibility and operational planning
  
  Build scalable financial systems, workflows, and processes
• Support board‑level reporting and financial presentations
• Help bring structure and organization to a fast‑growing financial environment

• 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience
• Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Experience improving financial systems and processes within growing organizations
• Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
• Strong Excel / financial modeling skills
• Experience overseeing accounting operations and financial reporting

• Background in public accounting or experience working with complex financial environments
• Experience supporting nonprofits, grant‑funded organizations, or mission‑driven entities
