About the Role

We are seeking a Privacy Engineer with a strong legal, technical, and UX background to join our privacy and compliance team. This role bridges engineering, legal, compliance, and design functions, ensuring our systems, products, and user interfaces align with global data protection laws and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will translate legal requirements into actionable technical and design solutions, embedding privacy by design into both system architecture and the user experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, engineering, and UX/UI design teams to interpret data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, LGPD) and integrate compliance requirements into product architecture and user flows.
  • Design and implement privacy-preserving technical controls, including data minimization, pseudonymization, encryption, access controls, and automated deletion routines, ensuring they are intuitive and user-friendly.
  • Partner with UX designers to create clear, accessible privacy notices, consent mechanisms, and data control settings that enhance transparency and user trust.
  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) in collaboration with legal and design stakeholders.
  • Support incident response investigations related to data privacy breaches, including root cause analysis, remediation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Evaluate third-party vendor privacy and security controls and contribute to contract negotiations regarding data processing agreements (DPAs).
  • Develop and maintain internal privacy engineering and UX standards, guidelines, and documentation.
  • Assist in creating tools and processes for data subject rights (DSR) fulfillment, including access, deletion, and correction requests, with an emphasis on simple, clear user experiences.
  • Provide technical guidance on anonymization, de-identification techniques, and privacy by design best practices.
  • Partner with product teams to embed privacy by design and user-centric privacy practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in privacy engineering, information security, or related technical/UX roles.
  • Familiarity with privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and other emerging laws.
  • Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies and secure data handling practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement user-friendly privacy controls and consent experiences.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages (Python, Java, Go, etc.).

Preferred/Nice to Have:

  • Experience with One Trust or similar privacy management platforms.
  • Proven track record in privacy design, integrating privacy considerations into user flows and product features.
  • Experience in a legal-tech, compliance-focused engineering, or UX privacy role.
  • Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPT, or CIPM.
  • Background in user research, usability testing, and accessibility as it relates to privacy features.
  • Familiarity with security and privacy frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, especially between engineering, legal, and design.
  • Ability to translate complex legal and technical privacy requirements into clear, usable, and aesthetically aligned user experiences.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and mitigating privacy risk
