Job Description
We’re hiring a Team Leader, Financial Reporting to join our Self‑Funded Financial Reporting team. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for analyzing and evaluating the financial performance of Self‑Funded (ASO) health plans and stop‑loss performance. You will oversee complex initiatives to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and related analysis for the Self‑Funded business, drive continuous improvement, and act as a liaison across the organization.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Lead the development of analysis and reporting for financial information used in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, including historical and forecasted data.
- Review and approve financial plans, forecasts, profitability impacts, competitive analysis, and various reports to track profitability.
- Drive the preparation of financial and business‑related analysis and research.
- Oversee the development of departmental budgets based on actual performance, prior budgets, revenue, expense reports, and other factors.
- Act as the lead business partner to Sales & Marketing on self‑funded group matters and serve as a subject‑matter expert on billing, collection, and invoicing issues.
- Proactively identify improvement areas and recommend process enhancements to management.
- Review, approve, and support creation of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad‑hoc reporting for senior leadership, the Board of Trustees, and the BCBS Association; ensure accuracy and present to management as needed.
- Respond quickly and accurately to escalated issues from internal and external clients and customers.
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree (where required); alternatively 7+ years of experience in a related field if a degree is not held.
- 5+ years of experience in a related field (or 7+ years if no degree).
- Previous leadership experience, including coaching/mentoring, workflow oversight, or leading process‑improvement initiatives.
- Experience partnering with Sales, Account Management, Underwriting, and handling escalations for large‑group customers.
- Experience leading through change (process redesign, system/portal transitions, new controls, communications).

Salary RangeAt Blue Cross NC, the starting salary is typically near the middle of the listed range: $89,174.00 - $.
