Job Summary

The Inside Sales Representative sells the organization’s commercial products and services for prospective and established customers. Through phone, email, or other communication channels, the ISRI handles customer requirements by determining needs, answering questions, creating solutions and ensuring a smooth and quick sales process. The ISRI is responsible for meeting established sales quotas, acquiring new customers, growing sales with current customers and increasing customer satisfaction.

Must be knowledgeable of the organization’s policies, procedures, practices, products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to customer inquiries through various communication channels.
  • Partner with the Industrial Sales team to provide prompt solutions to customers and address concerns and complaints.
  • Communicate with and treat all departments, company personnel, and customers with courtesy, integrity, respect, and professionalism.
  • Act as the primary contact for a dedicated customer list and perform inside sales activities such as calls, appointments, and customer service.
  • Record sales activities, quotes, and customer interactions in ERP & CRM systems.
  • Solicit new customers and strengthen relationships with key and target customers.
  • Identify potential leads using cold calling, emailing, and networking.
  • Handle received, priced, and returned requests for quotations within defined criteria.
  • Perform routine follow‑up to determine success or failure, track competitive market information, and stay informed on industry trends.
  • Obtain order information from customers, maintain the order through its lifecycle, and communicate updates to the customer and plant.
  • Enter or review orders for 100% accuracy in product type/quantity, gross margin, lead times, and freight.
  • Procure material requirements, delivery schedule, and forecast from customers and provide that information to purchasing and operations.
  • Maintain influence and control over customers’ expectations regarding the organization’s ability to meet specific demands.
  • Sell distributed products as part of a bundle package along with the company’s manufactured products.
  • Obtain product lead times and provide them to customers.
  • Work with purchasing or self to obtain pricing from outside vendors.
  • Understand logistical capabilities, primarily LTL & flatbed loading, timing, and distribution capabilities.
  • Provide accurate delivery schedules in advance to allow operations to secure materials and manufacture to meet requested delivery dates.
  • Build strong positive relationships with customers and colleagues by demonstrating value, initiative, and influence.
  • Obtain a communication level with the customer that allows access to all levels within their organization.
  • Revise and provide product drawings and submittal information to customers as needed.
  • Stay familiar with AASHTO and ASTM specifications regarding product and continue learning to stay updated on product knowledge, sales techniques, and industry standards.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Good computer skills and experience with MS Office Suite products.
  • Record of good attendance and punctuality.
