Atlas Health is bending the curve on healthcare affordability. With its enterprise end-to-end workflow automation platform (Atlas MAP), the largest integrated funding source network, AI agents and expert advocates, patients are proactively matched and enrolled in programs that fill coverage gaps. Providers that partner with Atlas Health enjoy higher levels of commercial insurance reimbursement and reduced uncompensated care, while patients have the confidence to access the care they need without financial fear.
We’re a fast-moving team in a pivotal growth phase, with major product and positioning momentum heading into 2026. But most of all, every role at Atlas has a direct impact on real people and real outcomes. If you’re excited to do meaningful work, we’re excited to meet you.
As a hands-on AI systems engineer at Atlas Health, you'll design, build, and operate production AI workflows. This role is not research-only and not prompt-tweaking-only. You will own AI systems end to end from data ingestion and model orchestration to backend integration and deployment.
You will work on:- Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems
- AI agents that reason, retrieve, and take action
- Production infrastructure running at scale
If you haven’t shipped AI systems into production that real users depend on, this role will be a stretch.
What You’ll Do - Core AI & ML Work:- Design and deploy RAG pipelines that retrieve from structured and unstructured healthcare data and produce reliable, grounded answers.
- Build LLM-driven systems that:
- Extract intent and entities
- Trigger downstream actions (updates, workflows, notifications)
- Develop and iterate on prompting, evaluation, and fine-tuning strategies for text, vision, and voice models.
- Build agentic workflows using function calling, tool orchestration, and reasoning loops.
- Integrate AI workflows into backend systems using APIs, events, and Graph
QL. - Deploy and scale AI services on Kubernetes.
- Design fault-tolerant systems with observability, retries, and human-in-the-loop fallbacks.
- 8+ years in software engineering with significant recent focus on AI/ML systems.
- Shipped production AI products, not just experiments or notebooks.
- Deep hands-on experience with:
- Embeddings and vector databases
- Prompt engineering and evaluation
- LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, or equivalent)
- Experience with Type Script and modern web frameworks.
- Familiarity with Golang for understanding or extending backend services.
- Comfortable working with Graph
QL APIs.
- Operates well in 0→1 environments with minimal process.
- Thinks in systems, failure modes, and tradeoffs.
- Comfortable owning ambiguous problems end to end.
- Bias toward shipping, measuring, and iterating.
