Construction Payroll & Accounting Specialist
Crystal Heating & Cooling – Greater St. Louis Area, MO
Pay: $50,000-$70,000 annually, depending on experience.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:30 PM (flexibility during payroll and reporting cycles).

This position combines payroll administration, accounting support, and compliance coordination within a construction and service organization. You will own weekly payroll processing and support general accounting activities while helping ensure compliance with certified payroll, labor requirements, reporting standards, and internal financial controls. Success in this role requires accuracy, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Process weekly payroll including time review, reconciliation, PTO tracking, and payroll accuracy controls
- Prepare certified payroll, prevailing wage documentation, union reporting, and fringe benefit administration
- Support payroll accounting activities including journal entries, labor allocations, reconciliations, and reporting
- Assist with month‑end close, audit preparation, and financial reporting activities
- Maintain payroll and accounting records while ensuring compliance with labor and reporting requirements
- Coordinate payroll‑related administration including garnishments, unemployment claims, benefits changes, and employee updates
- Track and maintain company licenses, insurance documentation, certifications, and compliance records
- Partner with accounting leadership to improve processes and maintain accurate financial data
- 3+ years of experience in payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, staff accounting, or financial administration
- Experience in construction payroll, certified payroll, prevailing wage, union payroll, or compliance reporting strongly preferred
- Understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping
- Experience with accounting software;
Quick Books experience preferred - Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize and analyze payroll and financial data
- Familiarity with general ledger processes and financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience preferred
