Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position: Nurse – First Assistant
Hours: 40 hours per week, Days
Location: Mercy Hospital Jefferson, Festus, MO 63028

We’re seeking an experienced, motivated Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join a collaborative surgical team where expertise and teamwork truly matter. In this role, you’ll work side‑by‑side with surgeons to provide exceptional perioperative care, using advanced clinical skills to support patients before, during, and after surgery. This is a full‑time opportunity for an RNFA who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and values high standards of care.

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Licensure: Active RN licensure in the state of practice.
• Experience: Minimum of perioperative nursing experience.
• Certifications: CNOR and RN-First Assistant class required within one year of hire/transfer. BLS/ACLS required within first year.
• Other: Demonstrates continued competence in assisting and in perioperative nursing.

Preferred: CNOR Certification.

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
