Overview
Veit is hiring an experienced High Reach Operator to join our Demolition team. This position is primarily based in Rush Island, MO, where you will operate large specialty demolition excavators, including Ultra High Reach machines exceeding 75 feet, along with other heavy equipment as needed. Following project completion, travel to additional demolition sites throughout the region may be required. Responsibilities- Operates large sized specialty excavators and heavy equipment used in demolition.
- Follows company and OSHA safety procedures. Reports problems to the project Foreman, Superintendent, General Superintendent, or Safety Director.
- Adheres to daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and training.
- Conducts routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Assists in training entry-level employees to perform maintenance and repair duties as required.
- Assists in identifying underground and overhead utilities before excavating.
- Reviews trenching requirements with the Superintendent and ensures appropriate protection is available.
- Keeps the project team informed of actions that may affect project performance or company operations.
- May repair and maintain equipment in addition to other duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum one year of experience operating Ultra High Reach equipment (75 feet+).
- Five years+ experience operating specialty demolition excavators.
- At least five years' industrial demolition experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles with the ability to drive under varying conditions.
- OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and ability to follow safety precautions; must be able to view and understand Veit safety training materials.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees, external vendors, and other business partners; strong interpersonal skills.
- Dependability and punctuality.
- Must pass pre-employment drug test.
- Must be able to work 8 to 12-hour days, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends; flexibility for evenings and weekends.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Union affiliation or willingness to join the union.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. May involve manual labor with periods of extensive physical exertion and exposure to adverse weather. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and communicate verbally as required.
Work EnvironmentExposure to environmental conditions, noise from construction sites, variable weather and terrain, and operation near machines.
