Generator Technician II

Overview

We are Energy Systems, the leader in industrial power solution sales, service, and rentals. We provide sales, service, and rentals of Generac equipment and solutions.

• Perform technical skills including mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting, and repair of generators.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators during normal hours, after‑hours, weekends, and holidays as directed.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators.
• Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs.
• Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner.
• Stay current on National Fire Protection Association and State regulations for Emergency Power Supply Systems.
• Create reports for all work performed in Field Servio.
• Communicate report findings through phone calls, emails, and in‑person communication.
• Conduct equipment commissioning for the industrial and MPS products.

• Education: High School Diploma
• Certification / License: Valid Driver License
• Work Experience: 4 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS
• Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams
  • Working knowledge of engine maintenance and troubleshooting natural gas fuel systems
  • Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating products
  • Working knowledge of diesel or gaseous engines
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, independent decision making, and work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of transfer switch operations and spark‑ignited systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Generac certification in the air‑cooled and protector series courses
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others
  • Ability to provide detailed reports within 24 hours
  • Ability to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls safely and timely
  • Excellent conflict and resolution skills
  • Ability to observe, identify, and relay critical information to the company, customers, or coworker

• Education: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Work Experience: 6 years servicing and troubleshooting EPSS

Production environment, including shop floor tasks: frequent standing, use of hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; walking, stooping, crouching, bending, and reaching above shoulders. Must lift or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Work involves close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision. Conditions include seasonal temperature variations, exposure to manufacturing fumes, and typical manufacturing hazards.

Requires compliance with PPE requirements (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, appropriate clothing, closed‑toed shoes). Must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice. May require obtaining a DOT Medical Card and ability to drive a heavy‑duty truck daily.
