We are seeking a proven leader with relevant experience and skills to supervise drivers and lead teams in a dynamic operational environment. This role focuses on customer satisfaction, financial performance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Position SummaryLead teams to consistently exceed established goals, demonstrate a commitment to customers, and maintain operational excellence. Develop forward‑looking plans and translate them into successful execution while managing resources and meeting the site financial operating plan. Implement and sustain an incident‑free safety culture.
Major Responsibilities- People
- Establish and sustain that supervisors and associates are trained, competent, and understand how their work relates to customer business objectives.
- Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain quality associates.
- Establish two‑way communication that informs, motivates, and recognizes excellence.
- Build strong relationships with associates, customers, and supporting departments.
- Operations
- Meet or exceed all customer key performance metrics and objectives.
- Interact daily with local customers to understand existing and emerging needs.
- Lead the team to identify operational improvements in route optimization, carrier selection, backhauls, and trailer loading.
- Collaborate with other Penske sites to share best practices and leverage resources.
- Finance
- Develop and execute the annual financial and operating plan.
- Lead the operation to meet or exceed the Business Plan targets.
- Identify issues with operating metrics and P&L and make timely adjustments.
- Ensure accurate customer billings, associate payroll, and other financial activities reflected in the P&L.
- Safety
- Lead a culture of safety through personal example.
- Develop, execute, and assess continuous improvement plans to reduce accident and injury frequency.
- Ensure each associate understands roles and responsibilities for a safe workplace.
- Proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions, processes, and behaviors.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, company policies, and procedures.
- Coach through safety observations.
- Growth / Customer Experience
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and challenge the status quo.
- Track and record value delivered to the customer.
- Seize profitable business opportunities for the customer and Penske.
- Utilize metrics to monitor and maximize customer efficiencies and achieve cost savings.
- Fleet / Assets
- Improve fleet/equipment utilization, maintenance availability, and fuel efficiency.
- Contribute to equipment specifications during start‑up and renewal.
- Build strong working relationships with local PTL district and equipment vendors.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- 4–6 years of related functional experience.
- 3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience with DOT regulated positions.
- High School degree or equivalent (Bachelor's preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and oral communication; ability to present and actively listen.
- Excellent time‑management, organizational skills, and follow‑through.
- Ability to work independently, solve problems, and make decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute annual financial operating plans.
- Experience driving process improvement and leading change.
- Ownership and responsibility for running the operation with a sense of urgency.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance.
- Willingness to travel as necessary; work required schedule and location.
- Completion of Penske employment application, background investigation, and drug screening.
- Read, communicate verbally and/or in written form; remember and analyze instructions.
- Stand, walk, sit; use hands to touch, handle, feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 lbs (12 kg).
- Close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

CompensationSalary range: $80,168 – $105,650. Operations Managers are bonus eligible; up to 30% of base for maximum performance.
ScheduleMonday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
