Fife, WA

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 2PM-10:30PM 2nd Shift Compensation: $22.00/hour-$25.00/hour (Depending on Experience) + $2.00/hour Swing Shift Differential

Position Summary

The Internal Supply Pultrusion Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining pultrusion production equipment used in the manufacturing of fiberglass for Milgard Windows & Doors. This role supports safe, efficient, and high-quality production operations while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining established manufacturing standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Safety and Compliance
    - Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain situational awareness while operating machinery.
  • Identify and report safety concerns, hazards, or equipment issues promptly.
  • 6S and Continuous Improvement
    - Complete all assigned cleaning and housekeeping activities, ensuring work areas are left clean and organized for the next shift.
  • Support 6S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in efforts to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.
  • Production and Machine Operation
    - Set up and prepare pultrusion machinery for production runs.
  • Align materials, verify machine settings, and feed raw materials into equipment.
  • Adjust machine controls such as speed, temperature, and tension to meet production specifications.
  • Operate automated and mechanical production equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitoring and Quality Control
    - Continuously monitor machine performance and product output.
  • Inspect all parts and materials to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Make minor operational adjustments to maintain consistent product quality.
  • Identify, isolate, and report defective materials or products.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting
    - Perform routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot production or equipment issues and communicate with maintenance technicians as needed.
  • Assist in minimizing downtime by responding quickly to operational concerns.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    - Accurately complete production records, maintenance logs, quality reports, and related documentation.
  • Communicate production status, issues, and shift updates effectively with supervisors and team members.
Required Skills and Competencies

    Ability to monitor manufacturing processes and recognize subtle changes that may impact product quality or production efficiency.

    Works collaboratively with supervisors, peers, and cross-functional teams to achieve production goals.

    Uses critical thinking skills to identify issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Communication:
    Effectively communicates operational concerns, production updates, and instructions.
  • Technical Aptitude:
    Ability to operate and maintain mechanical and computer-controlled manufacturing equipment; experience with automated systems or PLCs preferred.

    Skills:

    Ability to calculate rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret production specifications and documents.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational training or certification in machinery operation or manufacturing preferred.
  • Previous experience operating industrial manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Experience in pultrusion, composites manufacturing, or related industrial processes is a plus.
