Position Summary
The Petrochemical Scheduler will manage inventories, production, and logistics—including rail, truck, barge and pipeline—to meet forecasts and coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure uninterrupted refinery operations. The role works closely with Trading, Refining, RVCO, Product Quality and T&L to optimize olefin and aromatic balances.
- Nominates and schedules pipeline, waterborne, truck, rail, and delivery movements.
- Monitors inventories and shipping schedules daily to ensure supply meets demand.
- Develops and manages mid‑ to long‑term supply plans across multiple pipeline systems for multiple refineries.
- Identifies process improvements to enhance scheduling accuracy.
- Collaborates with Trading to identify and execute value opportunities.
- Communicates and verifies planned movements with all stakeholders.
- Provides timely inventory position information to Trading, Pricing, Marketing, Trucking and Supervision.
- Performs month‑end duties, ensuring scheduling data is accurate and responding to accounting inquiries.
- Responds to unexpected events 24/7, making contingency arrangements to minimize disruption.
- Initiates and coordinates movements independently through Marathon’s distribution channels.
- Identifies constraints and explores optimization opportunities on the desk.
- Gains knowledge of transportation costs associated with the movements.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive management reporting.
- Scheduler:
Bachelor's degree required; 2 years industry experience required, or High School Diploma with 7 years relevant experience. - Senior Scheduler:
Bachelor's degree required; 4 years industry experience required, or High School Diploma with 7 years relevant experience.
