Construction management entry level hires at Marathon Petroleum Company LP are involved in diverse, challenging projects, from planning to operation. Interns and co‑ops participate as integral team members, making recommendations on various construction management activities across a range of project sizes.
ResponsibilitiesConstruction Management/Project Controls Specialist:
Apply construction management principles to projects within MPC facilities. Work with contractors and specialists on industrial projects valued from tens of thousands to billions of dollars. Typical tasks include planning and scheduling materials, labor, and equipment; tracking and analyzing costs against control budgets; ensuring compliance with document‑control procedures; preparing audit‑trail documents; assisting with bid preparation, award and contract administration; monitoring contractor productivity, progress and performance;
and preparing schedule updates and critical‑path analysis.
- Desired majors:
Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, or related disciplines. - Strong academic performance.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time, indefinite basis without needing visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Availability for multiple work terms preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Available to work 40 hours per week.
- Concurrent enrollment in a degree‑seeking program throughout the duration of the experience.
- Hourly pay range: $28.62 – $36.22.
