Education:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Post-secondary education in welding, such as a certificate, diploma, or associate degree in welding technology, is preferred.
- Willingness to obtain CTE licensure.
- Hold relevant welding certifications, such as those issued by the American Welding Society (AWS) or other recognized certifying bodies.
- Certifications in specific welding processes and techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG, stick welding) are valuable.
- Substantial hands-on experience as a professional welder is crucial. Several years of practical experience in the field will enhance credibility.
- Experience across a range of welding processes and materials is often preferred.
- Previous experience as a welding instructor or in a similar teaching/training role is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with instructional techniques, curriculum development, and assessment methods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential to effectively convey welding concepts and safety procedures to students.
- Ability to adapt communication style to the diverse learning needs of students.
- In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and standards related to welding and metal fabrication.
- Ability to instill a culture of safety in the classroom and workshop environment.
- Ability to organize and plan instructional activities, including creating lesson plans, hands-on exercises, and assessments.
- A commitment to staying updated on industry trends, new welding technologies, and advancements through ongoing professional development.
- Patience and the ability to work with students of varying skill levels and backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive learning environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot welding issues and guide students through problem-solving exercises.
