Building Principal For Grades 3–5
The building principal for grades 3–5 serves as the instructional and operational leader of the intermediate elementary school. The principal is responsible for fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes high levels of academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and student engagement. The principal collaborates with staff, students, families, and community stakeholders to implement the district's mission, vision, and strategic goals while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and district policies.
Responsibilities- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices aligned with district and state standards.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement focused on student achievement and growth.
- Utilize student performance data to inform instructional decisions and school improvement efforts.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide meaningful feedback to instructional staff.
- Support the integration of evidence-based instructional strategies and educational technology.
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive school climate.
- Promote positive behavior expectations and implement student discipline procedures fairly and consistently.
- Foster social-emotional learning and student wellness initiatives.
- Support programs and services that address the diverse academic, behavioral, and emotional needs of students.
- Recruit, supervise, support, and evaluate certified and classified staff in accordance with district policies and collective bargaining agreements.
- Facilitate professional learning opportunities aligned with school and district goals.
- Build collaborative teams and encourage shared leadership among staff.
- Promote high professional standards and accountability.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with families and community stakeholders.
- Encourage meaningful parent and family involvement in school activities and student learning.
- Represent the school positively within the district and community.
- Establish partnerships that enhance educational opportunities for students.
- Oversee the daily operations of the school, including scheduling, staffing, facilities, transportation, and student supervision.
- Administer the school budget and allocate resources effectively to support educational priorities.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state and federal regulations, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness, crisis response, and school safety initiatives.
- Lead the development and implementation of the school improvement plan.
- Monitor progress toward established goals and adjust strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with district administrators and building leadership teams to support continuous school improvement.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Valid Ohio principal or administrative licensure/certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, instructional leadership, and school improvement practices.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively supervise and evaluate staff.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local educational regulations.
Preferred:
- Previous administrative experience at the elementary or intermediate school level.
- Experience working with students in Grades 3–5.
- Demonstrated success leading school improvement initiatives and improving student achievement outcomes.
- Experience with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and data-driven decision-making.
- Experience managing budgets, facilities, and school operations.
- Evidence of successful family and community engagement practices.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move throughout the school building and campus for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally lift or carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
