Study Hall Paraprofessional

The Study Hall Paraprofessional is responsible for supervising students during assigned study hall periods while maintaining a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment. This position supports student academic success by encouraging responsible study habits, monitoring student behavior, and assisting with classroom management as directed by school administration.

• Supervise students during assigned study hall periods.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly environment conducive to studying and independent work.
• Monitor student attendance and report absences or concerns according to district procedures.
• Enforce school and classroom rules, policies, and expectations consistently.
• Encourage students to remain on task and use study hall time productively.
• Assist students with organizational skills and basic academic support as appropriate, while referring instructional questions to certified staff.
• Monitor student use of technology and ensure compliance with district technology policies.
• Communicate student concerns, behavioral issues, or emergencies promptly to the appropriate administrator or teacher.
• Assist with hallway supervision, lunch duty, or other supervisory assignments as directed.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information in accordance with state and federal laws.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hold a valid Educational Aide Permit issued by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) or be eligible to obtain one prior to employment.
• Ability to work effectively with high school students.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries with students.
• Demonstrated ability to manage student behavior in a positive and respectful manner.
• Successful completion of all required background checks and pre-employment requirements.

• Previous experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting.
• Experience with classroom management or student supervision.
• CPR/First Aid certification (if required by the district).

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to supervise students throughout classrooms, hallways, and other school areas.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Work is performed primarily in a school environment with regular interaction with students, staff, and visitors. The position may require supervising students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, or other designated areas.
