Career Assessment Paraprofessional

The Career Assessment Paraprofessional plays a dual role in supporting the building secretaries as needed and managing career assessments in coordination with the career assessment instructor. This position provides essential support to students with diverse needs while helping the career assessment instructor oversee the logistics and data management of career assessments to help students identify appropriate CTE pathways. The ideal candidate fosters an inclusive learning environment and ensures seamless execution of career tracking and testing standards.

Responsibilities:

Assessment Coordination & Logistics

  • Schedule, organize, and help oversee career assessment testing.
  • Serve as a testing liaison between local districts and Millstream Career Center.
  • Maintain testing calendars and clearly communicate timelines, requirements, and testing protocols to staff, students, and parents.
  • Coordinate and implement testing accommodations for students with IEPs/504 plans under the guidance of the career assessment instructor.
  • Assist in the administration of assessments and provide feedback to students.

Data Management & Compliance

  • Track student participation and performance outcomes in career assessments.
  • Collect, verify, and submit assessment data into required tracking systems, assisting in data analysis to support program improvement.
  • Maintain accurate, secure, and strictly confidential records of student performance and testing documentation in alignment with district, state, and federal compliance standards.

Student Support & Supervision

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom and testing environment.
  • Monitor and supervise students during assessment activities, testing blocks, and building events to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Implement intervention strategies as needed in collaboration with the career assessment instructor to address individual student needs and manage students appropriately.

Communication & Program Support

  • Maintain open, effective, and professional communication with teachers, administration, and school staff regarding student assessments.
  • Assist career assessment instructor as needed in holding meetings with parents, guardians, and students to discuss career assessment results and career pathways.
  • Assist with student recruitment efforts, building events, and connecting families with resources.

Any other duties as assigned by the director.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ohio Educational Aide Permit with Secondary Education Act (ESEA) endorsement (or willingness to obtain via the Para Pro Assessment/college coursework).
  • Experience in secondary education, special education, or Career Technical Education (CTE) programs.
  • Strong organizational, data management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with technology, including Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Classroom) and student information systems.
  • High level of integrity regarding testing security and student confidentiality.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with state CTE reporting systems and data analysis tools.
  • Extensive background working with at-risk, exceptional, or diverse student populations.
Physical Demands:
  • Light work—exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, hearing, and fine motor tasks; occasional crouching, kneeling, and lifting. Ability to respond quickly to student situations or testing adjustments.
Working Conditions:
  • School-based and office environments involving high student interaction and a moderate risk setting requiring standard safety precautions (e.g., working with students with a variety of needs).
Schedule:
  • Primarily follows the school calendar with occasional requirements for evening or extended hours to facilitate parent meetings or school-wide CTE events.
