Senior BP&A Analyst; North Fuels Value Chain Optimization

Position Summary

A senior BP&A Analyst will provide comprehensive analysis and reporting on refinery value chain outcomes in the North Region. The role collaborates with Value Chain Optimization (VCO) and Fuels Value Chain (FVC) to align analytical needs and support informed decision-making.

• Review month-to-date refinery gross margin performance against benchmarks and contribute to weekly executive-level reports.
• Provide analysis of impacts to gross margin compared to MPCs externally reported Refining & Marketing margin indicator.
• Understand refinery operations and business drivers to link operational performance and market trends to financial outcomes.
• Collaborate with VCO, FVC, Refining BP&A, and Consolidation BP&A to report the impact of monthly lost profit opportunity to internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain North Region refinery index and analyze key drivers to explain deviations.
• Determine the breakeven crack spread for individual refineries and for the North Region as a whole.
• Contribute to long-term business plans and short-term forecasts for refinery gross margin and analyze actual performance versus forecasted results.
• Work with the North Regional Director of Value Chain Optimization, operating groups, and BP&A teams to prepare quarterly Value Chain P&L reviews and provide performance insights to Refinery Leadership.
• Track financial impact of VCOs, Continual Commercial Improvement efforts, and Run as One Initiatives.
• Actively seek and implement improvements to processes, systems, or automation to enable more in-depth analysis and commentary.
• Support ad hoc requests from management, VCO, and FVC for refinery value chain analysis.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
• Six (6) years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Preferred:
  Experience in BP&A and Commercial Roles.

Less than 5% travel.

• Strong proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and SAP/BW.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across BP&A, VCO, and Accounting teams.
