In-person Findlay, OH - Mission:
Own timely and accurate tax filings and payments, ensure compliance with tax laws, and advise on tax-efficient strategies to minimize cost and improve financial results.
- Tax Filing & Payments:
Prepare and file a variety of tax returns, including customs filings, and ensure all associated payments are accurate and submitted on time using checks, ACH, or wire transfers to tax authorities. - Financial Reconciliation:
Book necessary journal entries related to tax activities and meticulously reconcile tax liability general ledger accounts to maintain financial accuracy and compliance. - Tax Planning & Advice:
Act as a liaison to company personnel and operating departments, advising and assisting them in making tax-efficient investment decisions through comprehensive analysis of available options and recommending procedures to minimize tax costs. - Compliance & Licensing:
Manage the registration of new entities in various tax jurisdictions for motor fuels, sales & use tax, or related business and occupation licenses, while also maintaining current licensing statuses for customers and suppliers, along with tax exemption, resale, and direct pay certificates. - Audit Management & Research:
Lead the management of jurisdictional audits by compiling requested information, responding to auditor inquiries timely, and reviewing/challenging audit results, while continuously keeping abreast of tax law changes to interpret and document their application to company business.
- Background: A Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field. Alternatively, a minimum of five years of working experience for a multi-state enterprise with a strong understanding of property tax rules and regulations is accepted.
- Experience:
Possess one to two years of direct experience in tax preparation and filing, coupled with practical experience in the application of various tax rules and regulations. - Skills:
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across all functions of an organization, along with proven experience in communicating complex tax issues clearly, both in written and oral forms, to non-tax team members.
