Summary
The Front Desk Registration Specialist greets and engages with patients, as well as provides a wide range of administrative support for the medical office.
General Summary of Duties (Other duties may be assigned.)- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, helpful manner both in person and on the phone; maintain reception area, direct patients, and answer patients’ questions.
- Check in patients and update/verify required patient information in EMR system.
- Ensure required paperwork is issued to patient and communicate completion instructions.
- Collect any required patient payments; balance payments at end of day and promptly turn into Accounts Receivable.
- Remain informed and instruct patients on OIO regulations such as office hours, payments on account, insurance and self‑pay requirements, scheduling policies, patient portal, etc.
- Assist patients with mobility and access to wheelchairs if necessary; coordinate transportation for patient if necessary.
- Properly utilize EMR system and remain up to date on required training and procedures related to EMR system; demonstrate proficiency in appointment scheduling and accurate documentation in patient’s chart.
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Assist in coverage of other staff when necessary; participate in orientation of employees when needed.
- Communicate efficiently with other departments to ensure best care for patient.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and Training- High School diploma or equivalent required at minimum.
- Experience working in related position preferred.
- Work may require stooping, bending, reaching, and moderate lifting of up to approx. 50 pounds while assisting patients with mobility and positioning, moving supplies, and performing other daily job functions.
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting at desk and working at computer.
- Must have good computer and telephone communication skills and able to operate misc. office equipment.
- Hearing and vision abilities within normal range, or corrected, to observe and communicate with patients and staff.
- Ability to work in fast‑paced environment in a professional medical office setting.

Full time: 40 hours minimum per week; available for overtime as needed; varied day shift hours on weekdays with occasional coverage required on Saturdays.
Travel RequirementsModerate travel may be required to assist in coverage at satellite offices.
