Responsibilities
Educational Leadership
- Collaborate with district curriculum leaders to align technology with curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Develop and communicate a clear vision for educational technology that enhances student learning and engagement.
- Promote and support research-based instructional technology practices.
- Lead and design professional development opportunities for staff on effective technology integration.
- Support and sustain district initiatives such as 1:1 student technology programs and digital learning opportunities.
- Monitor trends in educational technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to inform future planning.
- Lead the daily operations of the technology department through inspiration and trust, with a strong customer service focus.
- Lead the technology team which consists of the following:
Administrative Assistant, Network Administrator, Systems Support Specialist, and Building Support Technicians. - Develop, manage, and monitor the district technology budget.
- Oversee technology purchasing, inventory, and asset management.
- Maintain and manage a help desk system to ensure efficient and responsive support services.
- Serve as a liaison with regional, state, and federal technology organizations.
- Pursue and manage technology-related grants and funding opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and data privacy requirements.
- Lead cybersecurity efforts and coordinate with relevant agencies and organizations.
- Evaluate technology department personnel and support staff development.
- Ensure accessibility compliance, including ADA standards for digital platforms.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the district's network, server infrastructure, and technology systems.
- Ensure network security through implementation of cybersecurity measures, encryption, access controls, and adherence to acceptable use policies.
- Manage authentication, authorization, and account access across district systems.
- Develop and maintain data backup procedures, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity strategies.
- Oversee system operations including network performance, maintenance, documentation, and logging.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and system records.
Required:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated successful leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, servers, and cybersecurity practices.
- Experience with technology integration in educational settings.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, administrators, and community members.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Experience in K-12 educational technology leadership.
- Knowledge of mixed-platform environments (Mac, PC, Chrome) in school settings.
- Experience with relational database applications.
- Familiarity with state and federal educational technology initiatives and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing large-scale technology initiatives (e.g., 1:1 device programs).
- Ability to work at a desk for extended periods, including use of computers and related technology.
- Ability to lift and move technology equipment (up to approximately 25-50 pounds).
- Ability to travel between district buildings as needed.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to install or troubleshoot equipment.
- Work is performed in a combination of office, school, and technical environments.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support system upgrades, maintenance, or emergencies.
- May be required to respond to urgent technology issues outside of normal work hours.
- Work involves frequent interaction with staff, students, and vendors.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels typical of school and equipment environments.
