About the role

The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing team members and motivating them to complete their job duties effectively. Their duties include training new employees, providing Team Members with daily objectives, and communicating with Shift Supervisors to determine the best methods for meeting business goals.

How you will make an impact
  • Motivate workers to enhance production quantity while maintaining high production standards and processes to achieve productivity standards, quality, and on‑time delivery.
  • Consult frequently with key team members.
  • Inspire and motivate teamwork for achieving goals. Provides direction, instructions, and guidance to a group of individuals.
  • Treat all team members with respect and dignity.
  • Evaluate manufacturing equipment for safety and functionality.
  • Monitor the floor to ensure that all HACCP and safety rules are followed and enforced.
  • Work with the shift supervisor to maximize manpower during vacations, breaks, and absenteeism. Operate formers as needed.
  • Monitor the human and material resources needed to achieve our production goals and give specific directions and procedures to follow in carrying out assigned tasks and machines.
  • Ensure employees are utilizing company time properly (not exceeding breaks or taking extra breaks) and minimize machine downtime and assist in identifying the root cause of issues.
  • Provide help with training and direction for team members who need to improve job skills.
  • Communicate to the Supervisor or designate all issues to include excessive scrap, quality, poor performing set‑ups, etc. daily.
  • Ensure all partial cases/pallets are re‑implemented into production and that all partial boxes (large cases) are put away properly daily.
  • At the end of your shift, make sure all employees have cleaned up their areas of responsibility including emptying all scrap, emptying trash, picking up trash, and sweeping around their area. Ensure equipment and tools are in their proper place at the end of the shift. Housekeeping will be a priority.
  • Make sure any labeling issues are dealt with on a timely basis to not cause any further production or shipping issues.
  • Check finished products to help ensure quality and that the company standards are met before they are declared ready for use.
  • Cover the role of the shift supervisor when they are absent.
  • Help monitor and facilitate changeovers, setup sheets, gauges, etc.
  • Ensure idle formers have WIP removed for magazines.
  • Organize and lead sorts and repacks.
  • During peak periods, team members may be required to work extended hours as business needs dictate.
Who you are
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a leadership role
  • Minimum of one year of experience in manufacturing
  • Strong ability to motivate, lead, and give directions to team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively relate with team members and the management.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively with all members of the team from various backgrounds.
  • Must be safety‑conscious.
  • Have good time management skills.
  • Strong experience with machining and/or manufacturing processes.
  • Solid knowledge of machine capabilities and manufacturing.
  • Computer skills.
