The Infection Control Nurse evaluates quality of resident care and resident outcomes as they relate to healthcare associated/nosocomial infections.
Responsibilities- On-going monitoring of health care associated/nosocomial infections
- Track trends in infection within the facility and report infection clusters to appropriate agencies required by state and local regulations
- Identify infection control issues and make recommendations for corrective action
- Meet job related competencies as outlined in the Skills Competency Manual
- Monitor infection control practices and employee compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and Tuberculosis Control Plan
- Report communicable disease to the state as required by law
- Attend required in-service education, present Infection Control in-services
- Participate in the QA process and “Nurse On-Call” program
- Communicate effectively with residents, staff and visitors
Skills and Abilities
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current license as a Registered Nurse (PA/OH)/Licensed Practical Nurse (OH only) with the State Board of Nursing. CPR certification recommended. Certification in Infection Control desired.
