Electrical Inside Sales Representative – Contractor Sales At McNaughton-McKay Electric Company, we believe success is built through strong partnerships and empowered people. As a trusted electrical distributor, we partner with contractors, builders, and commercial customers to deliver the products and solutions needed to keep projects on schedule and operations running smoothly.

We are seeking an Electrical Inside Sales Representative to support our contractor and commercial customer base in Findlay, Ohio. In this role, you will work closely with customers, vendor partners, and outside sales teams to provide responsive service, accurate quoting, and solutions that help customers complete their projects successfully.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in electrical distribution, contractor sales, or inside sales, or a motivated professional looking to build a career in electrical supply and construction sales.

Compensation Base Salary: $50,000 – $73,500 depending on experience

Average Annual Commission: $2,500 – $5,000

Total Compensation Potential: $52,500 – $78,500+What You’ll DoAs an Inside Sales Representative, you will play a key role in supporting contractor customers and ensuring projects move forward efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

Serving as a primary point of contact for contractor and commercial customer accounts

Preparing quotes and managing customer orders, changes, and delivery coordination

Providing pricing, product availability, and order support for electrical materials

Supporting outside sales representatives with project quotes and customer needs

Sourcing non-stock products and coordinating with vendor partners and purchasing teams

Tracking open orders and expediting shipments to meet jobsite timelines

Communicating proactively with customers regarding order status, delays, and solutions

Identifying opportunities to recommend additional products or alternatives that support customer project needs

Collaborating with internal teams—including operations, finance, and materials management—to ensure accurate and timely delivery

Wire, conduit, and fittings

Panels, breakers, and power distribution equipment

Contractor-focused electrical supplies

Professionals from companies such as electrical distributors, contractor supply houses, and construction supply companies often succeed in this role.

Qualifications High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred2+ years of experience in electrical distribution, contractor sales, counter sales, or inside sales preferred

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail

Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and business systems

Work Environment This position is based onsite in Columbus, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule after successfully meeting performance expectations. Most team members reach this milestone within 3–6 months.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree or a pattern of continuing education preferred. High school diploma required. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree or pattern of pursuing a degree.

High degree of knowledge of electrical distribution operations and/or similar product knowledge; two or more years of experience in operations, counter sales or in the electrical distribution industry preferred.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks at own initiative with minimal supervision.

Basic computer skills with MS Office products preferred with thorough knowledge of the business system preferred.
