Job Summary
Protect the organization’s physical assets by maintaining and safeguarding the physical perimeter, exterior and interior perimeter of the facility. Provide security protection by utilizing and monitoring electronic surveillance systems and other monitoring devices. Utilize and maintain electronic surveillance and detection systems through security console operations that include security, fire, access control, HVAC, and executive support. Function in a liaison role with the Central Business District Partner group.
Dispatch and coordinate responses and communication during emergency situations. This position has access to confidential and proprietary information and executive/family travel data.
- Monitor security surveillance systems that include, but not limited to, security, fire, access control, HVAC for the Fox Centre and other corporate and retail facilities.
- Monitor residential alarms.
- Coordinate responses in the event of emergency or volatile situations.
- Serve as a central communication command center and provide information to management, local police and fire, and business unit management in a non-emergency advisory role.
- Coordinate incident management at the Fox Centre with supervision, documenting and reporting incidents.
- Research data on NC4 situations and non-emergency incidents that impact business operations; analyze best practices and make recommendations for business operations.
- Coordinate executive/family travel related to airport security, hospitals, verifying watch lists, and prepare advance security travel packages for executive travel.
- Collaborate with Central Business District Partners to gather and share information, statistics, and crime trends to better protect areas of business (Fox Centre, store locations, warehouses, etc.).
- Assist in the development and implementation of new and improved security programs.
- Administer the card access program and manage and monitor identification card status and usage.
- Ensure protection of proprietary information and advise management of situations where information is jeopardized.
- Dispatch and provide informal work direction to others (no supervisory responsibilities).
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four‑year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Capable of performing satisfactorily and participating in training sessions, including but not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and defensive training.
- Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; knowledge and experience with security computer applications is preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid State of Michigan driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Math skills including calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Application of basic algebra and geometry concepts.
- Application of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to interpret nonverbal symbolism such as formulas, scientific equations, graphs, and musical notes in complex contexts.
- Ability to handle a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Skills and Abilities
- CPR and first aid certificates.
The work environment includes exposure to wet/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The role involves moving mechanical parts, extreme cold and heat, electrical shock risk, occasional exposure to high or precarious places, explosives, radiation risk, vibration, and loud noise. The position requires non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Employees regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands to manipulate items, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and may need to lift up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds frequently, and occasionally more than 100 pounds.
