Software Engineering Manager Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers responsible for building and supporting modern enterprise applications and digital platforms.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can develop people, improve engineering processes, contribute technically, and work closely with product, architecture, infrastructure, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop a team of front-end, back-end, and full-stack software engineers
- Provide technical direction while remaining involved in architecture, design, and complex engineering decisions
- Drive delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions
- Establish engineering standards and improve development processes
- Partner with Product, Architecture, Dev Ops, Security, and other technology teams
- Lead application modernization and cloud transformation initiatives
- Support Agile development practices and modern CI/CD processes
- Help define technical roadmaps aligned with business priorities
- Oversee hiring, coaching, performance management, and development of engineering talent
- Manage project priorities, delivery timelines, technical risks, and team capacity
- Promote automation, testing, reliability, and continuous improvement
- Communicate technical strategy, progress, and risks to both technical and business stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, MIS, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive technology/software engineering experience
- 3+ years of technical leadership or people management experience
- Strong understanding of modern software development and Agile practices
- Experience leading teams responsible for enterprise-scale applications
- Strong knowledge of modern programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar
- Experience with relational databases and SQL
- Experience with cloud-based application development
- Understanding of Dev Ops, CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with containers and modern application deployment practices
- Experience designing and integrating APIs
- Experience modernizing legacy applications or transitioning to newer architectures
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Azure or comparable public cloud platform
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Terraform, Ansible, or similar automation/IaC tooling
- Azure Dev Ops or comparable CI/CD platforms
- Salesforce or similar enterprise platforms
- Application security and Dev Sec Ops practices
- Automated testing and software reliability practices
- Experience leading large-scale application modernization initiatives
