Forklift Operator

The Forklift Operator is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations through the safe movement, storage, and distribution of products. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring shipment integrity, and keeping materials flowing efficiently throughout the distribution center. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Reporting Relationship:
Reports to the Tier 3 Lead Forklift Operator and Senior Supervisor

Key Responsibilities Warehouse Operations
  • Safely operate powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment. Receive, transport, stage, and store products within designated warehouse locations.
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound freight according to customer and company requirements.
  • Organize inventory to maximize storage efficiency and maintain warehouse flow.
  • Build and pick mixed-product pallets for order fulfillment.
Inventory Control & Documentation
  • Verify product counts and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and condition.
  • Compare receiving documentation with physical inventory to identify discrepancies.
  • Utilize RF scanners and warehouse management systems to process inventory transactions.
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory verification, and stock audits.
  • Report damaged materials, shortages, or other inventory concerns promptly.
Shipping & Quality Assurance
  • Prepare outbound shipments by wrapping, banding, labeling, and securing pallets.
  • Inspect loads prior to shipment to ensure products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Follow established procedures for load configuration and trailer utilization.
  • Support efficient trailer loading practices to maximize space and product protection.
Safety & Equipment Care
  • Conduct daily forklift inspections and report maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all warehouse safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Remain alert to workplace hazards and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous forklift or material handling experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience using RF scanners or inventory management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and follow written instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic math skills, including counting and inventory verification.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity standards.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Physical Requirements

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, employees must be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently reach, bend, and twist while performing warehouse duties.
  • Occasionally climb, kneel, crouch, or stoop.
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently throughout the workday.
Work Environment

This position is performed in a distribution center setting and may include:

  • Regular interaction with teammates and warehouse personnel.
  • Exposure to moving equipment, powered industrial trucks, and palletized products.
  • Moderate to high noise levels.
  • Indoor warehouse work with occasional outdoor responsibilities.
  • Varying temperatures based on seasonal weather conditions.
  • Periodic manual labor in support of warehouse operations.
