This internship will provide an opportunity to work for a global food company and develop an understanding of the equipment and processes that contribute to new product development and process optimization. Reporting to the Engineering manager, the Engineering Intern will learn about the spices business as they contribute developing the next generation of food processing y will conduct research and analysis to support and streamline process improvement as well as work hands‑on with our factory and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with factory operations teams to collect process data and perform analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop project scopes in relation to compliance type projects.
  • Establish studies and define scopes on key initiatives like mass air balance, water flow and equipment optimization.
  • Collect and analyze production and trial data; provide observations and recommendations to the project team.
  • Update process flow diagrams based on findings.
  • Establish baseline data and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support process improvements.
  • Perform waste reduction analysis to support operational efficiency.
  • Present project results, recommendations, and implementation summaries to leadership at the end of the internship.
What You’ll Bring
  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Instrumental Engineering or related program.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Foundational understanding of engineering software or simulation tools such as AutoCAD & Solid Works.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in team environments.
  • Strong interest in learning about food processing and technology.
  • This position will be at our processing facility in Firebaugh. Intern may travel occasionally to CA sites.

Location:

Processing facility in Firebaugh, CA. Intern may travel occasionally to CA sites.
Compensation in California: $22‑$32/hr based on experience, degree, position responsibilities, and geographic location. Interns with a permanent address more than 35 miles from the work location are eligible to receive a stipend to offset relocation and housing costs.
