Teams in General Merchandise (GM) prioritize guest experience while blending completion of tasks that ensure product is available and easy to shop – replenishment, pricing and signing, setting, and maintaining the sales floor and the backroom. The GM teams also execute inbound, outbound, and fulfillment responsibilities.

• Guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest‑first culture across the store
• Experience in retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
• Executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

• Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by delivering on key commitments.
• Greet guests – friendly smile, eye contact, wave (within 10 ft.) and warm interaction (within 4 ft.).
• Help guests find what they need and resolve issues to ensure a smooth shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience.
• Execute daily tasks assigned by a leader: receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, merchandise setup and maintenance, pricing activities, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• Operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures (when certified).
• Learn and execute operational procedures such as setting and organizing merchandise, managing product accuracy and stock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas to affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Follow Target policies and safety procedures, adhere to role‑specific guidelines (e.g., food safety, pricing), and help maintain a safe, compliant workplace by reporting and correcting hazards.
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders to guests) and maintain compliance culture while executing duties, including federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb up and down ladders.
• Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays); arrive on time for scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.
• Work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive‑Up, carry‑out, etc.
• Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
