Description
Kick off your summer with purpose and fun! The Fishers Community Center is looking for energetic and motivated Junior Camp Counselors who are ready to learn, lead, and make a difference. This entry-level role is perfect for those who love working with kids and want hands-on experience in a dynamic camp setting. Junior Camp Counselors work closely with Camp Counselors and senior staff to assist with games, activities, and camper supervision—helping create a safe, welcoming, and unforgettable summer camp experience.
Season Schedule
Camps operate Monday - Friday. The 2026 Summer Season runs Monday, 6/1/2026 - Friday, 7/31/2026. Returning staff will receive a step increase per year of service.
- New Hire Orientation and First Aid/CPR Certification – multiple dates offered between March and May.
- Camp Training – 5/26/26, 5/27/26, 5/28/26, 5/29/26; time/location TBD.
Opportunities
Opportunities to continue into our Fall, Winter, and Spring Break camps may be available for high-performing Camp Counselors.
- Support camp counselors in actively supervising campers to ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
- Assist and participate in camp activities such as games, crafts, sports, and group activities.
- Maintain appropriate camper to staff ratios and ensure constant awareness of camper whereabouts and needs.
- Encourage camper participation, teamwork, and positive behavior through active involvement and role modeling.
- Support campers in resolving conflicts and navigating social interactions in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Help maintain a clean and organized camp space including activity areas and shared supplies.
- Communicate effectively with fellow counselors, Head Counselors, and Camp Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Follow all safety procedures and assist in responding to incidents or emergencies as needed.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, patience, and a positive attitude throughout the camp day.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Prior experience working with children is preferred but not required.
- Must be enthusiastic, dependable, and passionate about working with youth.
- Can adapt quickly, stay organized, and manage time effectively in a dynamic camp environment.
- Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced, high-energy setting with frequent interruptions and background noise.
- Must have an Adult CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain prior to the start of camp. If needed, training will be provided.
- Positive, friendly, and professional demeanor with a passion for youth development.
