Who is Hagerman?

Since 1908 The Hagerman Family has built trust and earned confidence as leaders in diverse markets of the construction industry. We are a construction solution provider.

Location:

Fishers, IN (with travel to regional projects and offices)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced safety leader who is passionate not only about compliance, but about shaping and strengthening a proactive safety culture across our organization. This role goes beyond traditional jobsite oversight - it is an opportunity to influence how safety is experienced, understood, and lived every day across all locations.

The ideal candidate blends strong field experience with a creative, data-informed approach to safety: using dashboards, trend analysis, and engaging training to help our teams anticipate risk, learn continuously, and go home safely every day.

Who We Are

At Hagerman, safety is not a program, it's a shared responsibility and a foundational principle that guides how we plan, build, and lead. We have built our reputation on quality, integrity, and teamwork, and we believe the strongest safety cultures are built through trust, transparency, and collaboration. We invest in our people and support them with the tools, training, and leadership needed to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and evolve our safety culture by partnering with project teams, field leaders, and leadership to embed safety into daily decision-making.
  • Coordinate and support project-level safety efforts, including jobsite inspections, incident investigations, and hazard mitigation.
  • Develop and deliver engaging safety training that goes beyond compliance — using practical, interactive, and innovative approaches that resonate with both field and office teams.
  • Create and maintain safety dashboards and reporting tools to track leading and lagging indicators, identify trends, and support data-driven decisions.
  • Conduct proactive safety analysis across all locations to anticipate risk, recommend preventative measures, and continuously improve outcomes.
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings to influence safety planning early.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees, subcontractors, and partners on safe work practices.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Committee and cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Support claims management and ensure accurate safety records for prequalification and project pursuits.
  • Build strong relationships internally and externally with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and partners.
What You Bring
  • A related college degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 9 years of progressive construction safety experience (degree may substitute for up to 4 years).
  • Experience with general contractors; self-perform experience (masonry, carpentry, structural concrete) strongly preferred.
  • CHST or related certification preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and construction safety standards, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.
  • Comfort using data, dashboards, and technology to analyze safety trends and communicate insights.
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight as needed; valid driving record required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and the ability to influence without authority.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to set goals, prioritize work, and operate independently.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary
  • Annual incentive program
  • Paid holidays
  • Vacation days of paid time off
  • Affordable medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement program with company match
  • Summer hours
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Optional, employer-paid life and AD&D insurance
  • Continuing education opportunities
  • Support for volunteer work
  • Growth opportunities through our Career Pathing Program
  • The Hagerman Institute - customized learning and development
  • A thriving, collaborative culture
  • Generous employee referral bonus
  • Parental leave
