The Project Manager plays a critical role in the successful execution of Specialties Company's construction projects. This position is responsible for managing projects from bid turnover through final completion and collection while maintaining strong communication with clients, field operations, vendors, and internal teams.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. This individual will work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, and Division Managers to support field operations, maintain project documentation, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and compliance in all work environments and job-site activities
- Manage projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Maintain and develop relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Coordinate project communication between clients, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
- Prepare and maintain project files, documentation, and job-specific information
- Work closely with field Superintendents and Division Managers to support daily operations
- Assist with billing, receivables, and project cost tracking
- Attend weekly or biweekly construction and production meetings
- Coordinate utility locates and follow up as needed
- Create, track, and reconcile purchase orders and production quantities
- Coordinate procurement of specialty items, including handrails, impact attenuators, crash cushions, and other project materials
- Perform field visits to review project-specific conditions and ensure project alignment
- Assist in maintaining project schedules and production goals
- Experience managing INDOT, municipal, or commercial construction projects
- Working knowledge of INDOT specifications or the ability to learn quickly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, and Google Workspace
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Working knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job is a plus
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced construction environment
- Minimal travel required, though occasional overnight travel may be necessary
