Federal legislation known as “No Child Left Behind” wassigned into law by President Bush in January 2002. It requires that beginning January 8, 2002, paraprofessionals be required
tohave one of the following:

• An associate of arts degree
• Two years of college(48 credit hours)
• Passthe Para Proexam  (state assessment test for knowledge of an ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and math)

Principal and ENL Coach and Coordinator

• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to proficiently aid teacher.
• Ability to work well with staff and students.
• Be prepared for the workday.
• Instruct students under the supervision of the ENL Coach, ENL Collaborative Teacher and Classroom Teacher.
• Communicate instructional needs to appropriate classroom teacher(s).
• Work with groups of students within the classroom.
• Understand Wida Can Do Standards.
• Follow service schedule for the year, being flexible with changes as necessary.
• Any other related duties as may be assigned by the building principal or ENL Collaborative Teacher.

• Nurture a positive relationship with peers.
• Demonstrate respect for peers.
• Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives. Work as a team player.
• Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
• Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
