Tom Wood Aviation, in Indianapolis, IN is searching for an Experienced Aircraft Structural/Sheet Metal Technician to become a valued member of our team at the Indianapolis Metropolitan Airport. The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious professional with FAA certification, technical expertise in aircraft systems, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to precision and teamwork.

An Aircraft Structural/Sheet Metal Technicians responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the structural integrity of aircraft. This role involves working with metal, composite materials, and various structural components to ensure aircraft safety and performance.

Pay Range: $33.00-$40.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspections to identify structural damage or wear.
  • Repair and replace aircraft structural components, including fuselage, wings, and control surfaces.
  • Utilize various tools and equipment to cut, shape, and assemble structural parts.
  • Conduct corrosion control procedures and apply protective coatings.
  • Ensure all repairs meet regulatory and safety standards.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other maintenance personnel to resolve structural issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs and inspections.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft construction and materials.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for structural repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
  • Experience with riveting, and other aviation engineered fasteners is required.
  • Familiarity with aircraft composite materials and aviation paint systems is an asset.
  • Airframe certification is required
  • Powerplant certification is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience.
