JOB SNAPSHOTThe HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring consistent HR practices, accurate employee data, compliance readiness, and effective employee support, while escalating high-risk or final decision matters to the Controller and executive leadership.
This role requires strong judgment, confidentiality, organization, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced construction environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES HR Administration- Own assigned HR processes end-to-end
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files
- Enter and update employee data in ERP systems
- Track employee job changes, pay updates, and status changes
- Assist with timekeeping and basic payroll coordination
- Assist employees with basic benefit questions (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.)
- Support annual open enrollment preparation and communication
- Coordinate benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations
- Act as liaison between employees and benefit providers when needed
- Ensure compliance and tracking related to:
- I-9 verification
- E-Verify
- OSHA postings and documentation
- State and federal labor law postings
- Support workers’ compensation documentation and claims tracking
- Maintain training and certification records for field employees
- Maintain audit-ready HR records at all times
- Support supervisors with attendance, performance, and conduct issues
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies across departments
- Support a positive workplace culture across office and jobsite environments
- Escalate termination recommendations and high-risk situations
- Post job openings and manage applicant tracking
- Schedule interviews and coordinate communication with candidates
- Prepare offer letters, onboarding packets, and employment documentation
- Coordinate new-hire onboarding for field and office employees
- Coordinate offboarding processes including exit paperwork and system access notifications
- Assist with development and updates of HR policies and SOPs
- Support company events, trainings, and internal communications
- Maintain HR calendars, deadlines, and reporting schedules
Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 3–6 years of progressive HR experience
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR)
- Experience supporting both field and office employees
- Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Experience handling employee relations and investigations
- High level of discretion and sound judgment
