JOB DESCRIPTION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT – TIER 1 POSITION: TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 220-DAY

REPORTS TO: District Technology Manager

SUMMARY:

Collaborate closely with school administrators, media specialists and teachers to integrate and support technology in classroom instruction. Provide Tier 1 support for district technology including Windows / Mac / iOS devices, printers, projectors, educational software, and interactive boards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CompTIA A+ certification encouraged
  • Must have experience in troubleshooting technology, hardware, mobile devices, operating systems and other electronic equipment (i.e., computers, fax, printers, audio visual etc.).
  • Possess ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Windows Operating Systems and Applications (Microsoft Office, etc.), Apple OS / iOS, audio / visual solutions and other educational applications in a networked environment.
  • Knowledge of basic TCP/IP fundamentals to support LAN / WAN / WLAN connectivity.
  • Appropriate and effective mastery of technical skills to facilitate and/or qualify for advanced training.
  • Possess ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with staff and students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide Tier 1, district-wide, technological support for maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repair, and installation of hardware and software under the responsibility of the Technology Department to support HSE’s educational mission. Serve as primary Technical Contact for Mobile Devices.
  • Document equipment, software, and hardware properly to facilitate district-wide technical support. This documentation should be updated and maintained at an exceptional level to facilitate district-wide support.
  • Manage tasks and time efficiently to provide technical support in other buildings as directed by Supervisor. Maintain record of tasks (scheduled & performed) as required by Supervisor.
  • Participate in district-wide mass installs and upgrades.
  • Work with Central Office technology staff to develop district-wide policies and procedures as requested. Assist Central Office staff with wide-area network (WAN) support as needed.
  • Participate in district/department special projects in support of educational mission and/or administrative directives or initiatives.
  • Collaborate and cooperate with other technology specialists on a corporation-wide basis. Participate and organize in-service day events related to Technology Specialists professional development.
  • Participate in distribution, collection and annual maintenance of devices.
  • Work closely with building level administration, media specialists and teachers to support technology initiatives that support teaching and learning.
  • Provide instructional staff with assistance to enable them to utilize district’s hardware, software, and incorporate technology into their instructional methodology and delivery systems in coordination with HSE’s Instructional Technology Integration Specialists.
  • Assist with the planning, design, research, and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintain current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommend modifications as necessary.
  • Perform additional and/or alternative duties as assigned.
