JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF EXCEPTIONAL LEARNERS CONTRACT DAYS: 260-day Contract
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a minimum of 3 years successful teaching and/or successful experience directing special education
- Demonstrate leadership abilities and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Maintain a knowledge base and understanding of latest special education trends.
- Must have Director of Special Education Licensing or other Indiana School Administrator License.
Executive Director of Exceptional Learners
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:- Assist the Executive Director of Exceptional Learners in the implementation of district-wide policies and procedures for IDEA and Article 7 compliance.
- Supervise the district special education programs and curriculum as designated by the Executive Director of Exceptional Learners.
- Assist the Executive Director of Exceptional Learners in providing structure and direction for HSE special education programs.
- Attend case conferences as designated by the Executive Director of Exceptional Learners.
- Design and implement professional development opportunities on special education issues for all appropriate staff and administrators.
- Assist or confer with administrators in the selection and evaluation of special education staff.
- Complete state and federal reports as designated by the Executive Director of Exceptional Learners.
- Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the district special education departments and specialists/coordinators as designated by the Executive Director of Exceptional Learners.
- Other assignments, responsibilities, and duties as assigned by Executive Director of Exceptional Learners/Superintendent.
- Nurture a positive relationship with super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
- Demonstrate respect for super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
- Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives. Work as a team player.
- Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
- Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner
