Position Summary:

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring that aluminum and stainless-steel railing components meet company quality standards and customer specifications. In this role, you will perform inspections throughout the fabrication process, including incoming materials, in-process production, and final product verification. The Quality Control Specialist works closely with manufacturing personnel to maintain quality standards, identify non-conformances, and support continuous improvement within plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify incoming purchased components meet required specifications and are free of defects
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections during fabrication, layout, and welding operations to ensure compliance with shop drawings and tolerances
  • Conduct final inspection of completed railing assemblies to verify dimensions, weld quality, finish quality, and overall workmanship prior to shipment
  • Review shop drawings to confirm components are fabricated correctly, including hole locations, angles, lengths, and assembly configuration
  • Utilize inspection tools, including tape measures, calipers, squares, angle gauges, and other measuring instruments, to verify product accuracy
  • Record inspection results and maintain quality records in accordance with company procedures
  • Work with manufacturing teams to identify root causes of defects and recommend improvements to fabrication processes
  • Inspect finished railing assemblies prior to packaging and shipment to confirm proper fabrication, finish quality, hardware completeness, and compliance with customer specifications
  • Maintain accurate inventory through routine cycle counts of raw materials, hardware, and fabricated components
    • Identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and communicate findings to management to support inventory accuracy and production planning
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, welding, or quality inspection preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, dimensions, and fabrication details is highly preferred.
  • Experience performing dimensional inspections and identifying manufacturing defects.
  • Familiarity with aluminum and stainless-steel fabrication processes, such as cutting, drilling, welding, and finishing, is preferred.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers, tape measures, squares, and angle measuring tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify deviations from specifications.
  • Ability to communicate quality concerns clearly and professionally with production team members.
  • Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of and adherence to safety protocols within a manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, and walking.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Requires working in a Manufacturing setting with exposure to changing temperatures, metal dust/particles, and machine noise levels.
