Position: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Breast and Endocrine Surgery Oncology (Fishers, IN)

We are seeking a patient-focused Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dynamic Breast and Endocrine Surgery Oncology team at IU Fishers Hospital!

Position Details
  • Full-time, Days
  • Monday - Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm
    • No weekends, no call
  • 5% Inpatient
  • 75% OR and 20% Clinic
  • Practice with 3 physicians (two breast surgeons and one endocrine surgeon) and 1 other APP
Patient Population
  • Breast and Endocrine Surgery
  • Provide intraoperative support as a First Assist to the breast and endocrine surgeons
  • Participate in outpatient clinic care, including pre-operative and post-operative
  • Manage patients with both benign and malignant disease
  • Discharge patients following overnight stays
Procedures
  • First assist in the OR for both breast and endocrine surgery cases.
  • May do some Incision & drain
  • Drain removal, staple/suture removal in clinic setting
Key Responsibilities

This position will serve as an Advanced Practice Provider supporting both Breast Surgery and Endocrine Surgery patients at IU Health Fishers Hospital in Fishers, IN. This role is integral in supporting a growing surgical program and enhancing access, efficiency and the overall patient experience across both breast and endocrine services.

  • Serve as a First Assist in the operating room for breast and endocrine surgery procedures
  • Deliver virtual/telehealth visits when clinically appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, administrative and clinic team members, and nurse navigators to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care
  • Partner with oncology and radiology services to support comprehensive treatment planning
  • Provide patient education and emotional support throughout the surgical care continuum
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree required
  • ACNP, AGNP, FNP, WHNP or PA certification required
  • If new graduate, RN experience or clinical rotation in oncology and/or women's health required
  • Clinical background in surgical and oncology patient care
  • Must have Certified First Assist, with experience supporting breast and/or endocrine procedures
