About the Role

To support Urology of Indiana by assisting the providers and/or team with patient care needs and treatment, and to assist the Advanced Prostate Care team in the management of patients within the APC clinic. The company’s vision is to provide the highest quality, comprehensive urologic care to patients and referring physicians through state‑of‑the‑art clinical services, applied research, and ongoing medical education.

What

You'll Be Doing
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills with staff, patients, families, and external contacts.
  • Perform phone triage as needed: answer phones/voicemails, route calls to the appropriate nurse or physician.
  • Schedule follow‑up appointments for patients within APC and coordinate appointments, prioritizing needs.
  • Document all patient phone interactions in the EHR.
  • Assist with the APC EHR inbox—obtain laboratory and imaging results, report findings to physicians and patients.
  • Chard audit scheduled patients weekly as assigned.
  • Assist with coordination of central line placement/removal when needed and coordinate dressing changes with other scheduled appointments.
  • Establish and maintain IV access and monitor patients throughout the Provenge/Xofigo infusion process.
  • Administer medications (including oxygen) as needed in the event of a Provenge reaction.
  • Clean and stock infusion suite(s) after each patient.
  • Maintain an electronic inventory supply tracker for each location where clinical infusions or Xofigo injections take place.
  • Draw labs and give injections as ordered by provider.
  • Contact pharmacy for prescription refills or newly ordered medications.
  • Work side‑by‑side with patient navigator to ensure patients have access to appropriate financial assistance for medications and treatments.
  • Assist with the process for obtaining patient financial assistance.
  • Assemble APC folders and ensure each office has sufficient educational materials using an electronic tracker.
  • Assist with APC document scanning.
  • Participate in APC educational opportunities as presented.
  • Attend required training for HIPAA, OSHA, and CPR.
  • Maintain patient safety and strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We Expect from You

To perform this role successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following outlines the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

  • Education and/or

    Experience:

    One year experience in a medical practice setting, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Preferred Credentials:
    Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN).
  • EMR Documentation Experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance verification and processes.
  • Language

    Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine correspondence, speak effectively before groups.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to calculate basic figures and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    Solve practical problems with limited standardization, interpret written or oral instructions.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Knowledge of basic computer software.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Lifting or moving up to 10 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional laboratory environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day and will be based upon APC clinic schedule needs.
