The District Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Indianapolis, IN, responsible for driving sales growth and maintaining strong customer relationships within an assigned territory. This role involves identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing an existing customer base, and promoting automation solutions and products that meet customer requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting customer visits, preparing and delivering technical sales presentations, coordinating product demonstrations, and collaborating with internal engineering and support teams to develop proposals and solutions.
The District Sales Manager will monitor market trends, maintain accurate sales forecasts and reports, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through responsive and knowledgeable service. This role also includes participating in industry events, training sessions, and continuous learning activities to stay current on technology offerings and competitive products.
- Demonstrated experience in technical or industrial sales, preferably in automation, controls, robotics, or related manufacturing technologies.
- Strong customer relationship management skills, including territory planning, account management, and consultative selling.
- Solid understanding of automation solutions such as PLCs, motion control, robotics, vision systems, sensors, industrial networking, pneumatics, and machine/process control.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, collaborate with engineers, and translate complex concepts into clear business value for customers.
- Effective communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with standard office productivity tools and CRM systems for managing contacts, opportunities, and sales reporting.
- Self-directed work style with strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail in a field-based sales environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
