Building Monitor

The City of Fishers is seeking a responsible and reliable Building Monitor to oversee the safety, security, and general use of The Fishers Community Center during evening and weekend hours. This position plays a key role in ensuring the building is a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for staff, visitors, and community members.

Examples of duties include:

• Acting as the on-site point person for visitors, program participants, and community members when a manager is not on duty.
• Ensuring all building rules, policies, and procedures are followed by members and guests.
• Conducting regular walkthroughs of the facility, parking areas, and outdoor amenities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with facility rules.
• Addressing disruptive behavior or disputes among patrons or between patrons and staff with calm, professionalism, and neutrality; applying established de-escalation techniques to resolve situations safely and respectfully.
• Referring complex, sensitive, or unresolved issues to a manager as needed for appropriate resolution, thoroughly documenting incidents.
• Providing excellent customer service to all internal and external customers by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
• Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the workspace and equipment.
• Ensuring the safety of patrons and being prepared to take charge in an emergency if necessary. Acting as a first responder in the event of an emergency, providing immediate assistance, administering first aid or CPR as needed, and following proper emergency protocols to ensure member and staff safety. Reporting any emergencies immediately and completing accident reports as necessary.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include:

• Two or more years of experience in a customer service role with decision-making and/or de-escalation experience.
• Experience providing a high level of customer service to diverse internal and external customers.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in tense or challenging situations using de-escalation techniques to defuse conflicts and maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and background noises.
• Must have an Adult CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within the first 60 days. Training will be provided.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
