JOB SUMMARY. Sizer School, a North Central Charter Essential School, is seeking a driven, dynamic, and experienced English Language Arts teacher for middle school. This teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that supports students in the development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills; and the development of an appreciation of a range of literature and the motivation to read.
This candidate will bring a passion for implementing best instructional practices, and a commitment to further promote an already existing positive collaborative environment. - Teaches content and skills in English language, literature, writing, and reading.
- Promotes the learning and growth of all students by providing high-quality instruction and encouraging students to think independently and to express original ideas.
- Designs units of instruction with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks.
- Demonstrates instructional practices that reflect cultural proficiency as well as creates a safe and effective classroom environment.
- Adapts instruction, materials, and assessments to make challenging material accessible to all students, including English learners and students with disabilities.
- Acts as an advisor to a group of students and works to shape curriculum and practice to support the whole student.
- Designs learning experiences that are informed by data and address prioritized standards.
- Reflects on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, both individually and with colleagues, and uses insights gained to improve practice and student learning.
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.
- Administers formative and summative assessments in alignment with grade-level needs.
- Participates in school-wide and subject specific professional development and grade level team collaborative meetings.
- Regular in-person attendance.

Qualifications- Dedication to the Sizer School mission
- Thorough knowledge of curriculum design, MA Common Core, and assessment tools
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in English or a related field from an accredited college or university
- MA DESE License with SEI Endorsement preferred. Mandatory within the first year of employment.
- Successful experience in teaching in a diverse school environment.
- Innovative team player with proven history of service.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Experience academic progress monitoring data programs a plus.
- Ability to pass CORI and National Criminal Background Check.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
